Three Couples in their early 50's from Wisconsin We arrived via Ryan Charter International Air from Milwaukee through Apple Vacations. We got through the airport in about an hour and were greeted by an Apple representative. We had to wait a short time for a van to take us to the resort, but it turned out to be worth the wait, as it was taking us direct to the resort. I would say it took about an hour and twenty minutes. We were greeted by hotel staff as our luggage was being unpacked and were informed on how registration, bags, etc. are handled. Check-in was a breeze. We were assigned rooms 1822, 1825 and 1826. We went back out by our luggage and told the porter our room numbers as he marked it on the luggage. He said it would be about 5 minutes before it was delivered to the room. We then had a cart pull up to take the six of us to our rooms. Two of us received partial ocean view rooms and the third got a view of woods. The baggage arrived a minute or two later. We received a basket of fruit, a bag from the management containing shot glasses, tequila, key holders and a book on the resorts. From the Tripadvisor web site reviews we were told to go directly to the Concierge to get our reservations for the four ala cart restaurants otherwise we may not get in. This may be have been the case for others, but we stopped and talked to Israel our Concierge. He spent a few minutes with us telling us that our first night (Thursday) there was to be an Apple sponsored beach party of Steak and Lobster and that no reservations would be necessary. We then made reservations for Cajun (Friday), Steak House (Saturday), Mexican (Sunday), Buffet (Monday), Italian (Tuesday), Buffet (Wednesday). We asked for and received 6:30pm reservations for all ala cart restaurants. The food and staff were fantastic. We spent time at both the beach and the pools. There were always more than enough lounge chairs and palalpas. There always seemed to be a waiter or waitress coming around to take your drink orders. My favorite was Pedro at the beach. He always greeted us with a smile and offered to get us drinks. On Wednesday, which was our last day at the resort, he asked if we liked Mexican music and we told him "sure we do". Five minutes later, here comes Pedro walking down the beach with our drinks, shots of tequila and a 3-piece mariachi band behind him. They played and sang while we drank our shots and then broke out in a beer polka song. They gave us there hats for pictures with them and they continued to play during each of the pictures. This was a very nice surprise for us and really made our last day. If you are going to this resort, you will indeed need some type of footwear. We had rubber aqua socks. The coral and stones are sharp and you could get hurt. Thanks for the advice Tripadvisor Members! We did snorkel two of the days, but the water was pretty rough most days. The red flag was out during most of our trip. You could still go into the water and swim, just not out far. We brought rolls from the buffet and fed the fish in the ocean. The little kids really enjoyed watching the fish come flying out of the water after the food. We did the lazy river one day and people are correct, just wait a few minutes and there is always a tube available. We took a trip to Playa del Carmen one day. We walked out to the main highway and a collective was there. If there isn't one, just wait until you see a white van with an orange stripe and they will stop for you. We were told by the Apple Representative' Jimmy that the cost would be $3 per person for tourists and $2 for locals. Well we talked to the driver and paid just $2 for each of us. We waited a few minutes to see if more people were coming from our resort and off we went. They took us to their collective stop and told us to go right at the corner and it would take us to the shopping street. We spent most of the day shopping and hunting for deals. We hit the Senor' Frogs for lunch and then one last stop at a store for us. We saw they had Budweiser and Pepsi for one of our friends, so we stocked up for his birthday. Most all resorts only have Coke and Corona. We went back to where we were dropped off and got into another collective and away we went back to the resort. We got back to the resort and headed for the beach for the rest of the day. We really never had rain, even though they predicted it just about everyday. It misted on us one evening as we went to dinner, but it didn't last very long. The one day it really came down at the resort for a short time, we were in Playa del Carmen (Good timing huh?) Let's talk about the rooms. Yes there is a huge hole in the wall and my wife and I agree that some of our privacy is lost. The shower and the toilet have doors. The toilet door is not a full door and has a gap of about an inch all around. If someone was walking down the road at night and we had our balcony curtain open, it would be a straight shot to the bathroom. We really didn't have a problem, but I could see how others might have problems with this. The toilet has two different flushes. Our friend's didn't work very well and ran all night. One call to the main office and there was someone there to not only fix this, but they put in a new tank assembly. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub which my wife wanted to use, but the hot water was coming out yellow. We let them know at the main office and the yellow color disappeared a few days later. The shower has 6 or 8 jets as well as a regular shower head and a hand held shower wand. There were always plenty of towels and soaps, etc. The room has a refrigerator with beer, soda and water in it. We never ran out of any of these. There was a coffee maker and plenty of coffee. The TV has quite a few stations but most of them were Spanish stations. The balcony had a pull string clothes line for hanging up your suits, etc. If you go, bring along a few plastic clothes pins. It can get windy and if you don't want to chase you clothing, these were very helpful. We had a king size bed with 4 pillows and a couch that also opened up to a bed. We received a newspaper each day which was the Miami Herald Cancun Edition. Our room was kept neat and clean by Flo and she also left us some towel art. A word about tipping. We prefer to tip for our drinks and food. I know you don't have to at an all inclusive resort, but our take is this: We are getting premium drinks at the bar and the workers do a very good job. I did get drinks without tipping also. Tipping didn't get us drinks any quicker or slower by not tipping. We always tipped a $1 or $2 for drinks and about $5 for our dinners. We figure we can afford it and they appreciate the extra money. The resort workers don't get paid all that much. We tipped the maid $2-$3 a day and also provided some nice gifts that we brought along. My wife and I bring along $100 in singles just for this purpose. Also, if you need to get singles for larger bills, see your Concierge. They always seem to have $1 to get rid of. We have been to many all inclusive resorts in both Mexico, Dominican Republic and Jamaica and this was one of the best we have ever been to. We would not hesitate to go back to this resort again. If I can answer any questions, please let me know.
